How is it collected?

Due to the density and weight of food the majority of small food waste collections, for instance at a restaurant or canteen, will be carried out using 240L or the smaller 120L wheelie bins. Larger industrial operations such as food production facilities would require an enclosed skip

Where does it go?

Food waste is recycled using a process called anaerobic digestion; a series of processes in which microorganisms break down biodegradable material in the absence of oxygen. It is used for industrial or domestic purposes to manage waste and/or to release energy.

How much does it cost?

Food Waste is currently on the cusp of becoming commercially viable when compared to General Waste collections. Depending on your current General Waste costs it may be cheaper or more expensive. That said the UK is currently considering legislation for food waste which will incentivise businesses into making a change.
